David Tart has 20 years experience animating and directing cg feature animation as well as stop-motion and 2D animation experience.
After beginning his career on the stop-motion animated ABC television series, Bump in the Night, he joined Pixar Animation Studios, where his credits include Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, For the Birds, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo.
In addition to his animation duties, David helped develop the curriculum and train new animators for Pixar’s newly established “Pixar University”, along with collaborating with the technical staff in developing a number of animation tools.
David’s professional resume includes work as an animator, animation supervisor, and animation director at Blue Sky Studios, Disneytoon Studios, DNA Studios, Prana Studios, Wild Brain, Ettamogah Studios, and Janimation. His filmography includes Robots, The Ant Bully, Tinkerbell, The Three Little Pigs, Tortoise V. Hare, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the upcoming Dorothy of Oz, along with several commercials including the Annie Award winning Lamisil Alive.
In addition to animating and directing animation, David has lectured and taught animation worldwide, including the development and maintenance of the 3D animation curriculum at the Animation Workshop in Denmark. David’s most recent project, the short film The Story of Animation, has been been selected for competition at a number of international film festivals, and recently took first price at ASIFA San Francisco’s Spring Festival for “Best Film”(tied for first place) and “Funniest Film”.
